Approved Budget Adjustments for Second Semester (January 2012)

School board approves more than $2 million in cuts for the current school year, another $8 million in cuts needed for Fall 2012

In an effort to head off $10 million in budget cuts for next fall, the school board has made approximately $2 million in budget adjustments for the current school year. The adjustments will take effect on or before January 24, 2012 with the start of second semester.

The list - totaling $2,064,600 - includes one-time account transfers as well as ongoing fee and revenue increases; hiring freezes and department restructuring; staff reductions; reductions in other budget areas including supplies, materials and services; and changes to transportation.

Budget Adjustment Update
In light of new budget forecast information, district administrators have proposed a plan to spread cuts out over several years to reduce the initial impact on students.

• Attend a school board meeting. Board meetings will be held at 7:15 p.m. on February 23 and March 8 at Stillwater City Hall. The public will have an opportunity to address the board during an Open Forum at the start of each meeting. 
• Join the Community Conversation. Share your opinions regarding the proposed recommendation, read other people's ideas, and vote on your favorites online.

The board will vote on final budget adjustments on March 8, and adjustments would take effect for the 2012-2013 school year.
